Alyssa Thomas Speaks Out Against League Commissioner After Death Threats
WNBA star Alyssa Thomas recently spoke out against WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert after receiving death threats following a game against the Indiana Fever.
The incident occurred on June 24, when Thomas made contact with Caitlin Clark’s throat during a game at Gainbridge Field House. The play was initially overlooked by referees but went viral on social media after slow-motion footage was shared online.
The WNBA subsequently issued Thomas a Flagrant 2 and suspended her for one game, which she accepted without argument. However, Thomas expressed her disappointment with the league’s handling of the situation, particularly with regards to the subsequent backlash she and her teammates faced on social media.
