Gillingham F.C. Strengthens Goalkeeping Ranks
Gillingham Football Club has made a significant move to bolster its goalkeeping department by signing two talented shot-stoppers: Ollie Wright and Lennon MacLorg.

Wright, 23, has been part of Southampton’s academy setup since 2012 but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Saints. The young goalkeeper has, however, gained valuable experience through loan spells with National League sides Yeovil Town and Solihull Moors, as well as a recent stint with Accrington Stanley in League Two.
During his time with Accrington Stanley in the 2025-26 season, Wright kept an impressive 12 clean sheets in 47 games. When asked about his playing style, Wright told the Gillingham FC website, ‘I’d like to say I am quite commanding, coming for crosses and taking the pressure off the back line.’
MacLorg, 20, joins Gillingham after leaving Charlton Athletic. The young goalkeeper expressed his excitement about joining his boyhood club, stating, ‘I have grown up my whole life supporting this team and when I heard about it I was just buzzing to get it done.’
The signings of Wright and MacLorg are expected to provide a much-needed boost to Gillingham’s goalkeeping department. With their combined experience and talent, the duo is poised to make a significant impact on the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
