Get a Proper Workout Display on Your Fitbit Air

While the Fitbit Air can auto-detect workouts, it’s often limited in terms of data. To get a more comprehensive view of your workout, you can broadcast your heart rate data to Strava. This will allow you to see your heart rate, time, and distance covered in real-time, making it easier to track your progress. To set it up, go to the Google Health app, tap on your device, and then on Share Heart Rate. Set it to Always Visible, and you’re good to go!

Once you’ve set up Strava, you can start tracking your workouts with ease. The app will display your heart rate, time, and distance covered, making it easier to stay on top of your fitness goals. You can also view your map, lap pace, and distance in addition to your total pace and distance.

Put Your Fitbit Air on Your Watch Band

This is one of the most popular hacks for the Fitbit Air, but it’s not without its caveats. The standard band of the Fitbit Air is 18 millimeters in width, making it compatible with most mechanical watches. However, this setup may not work for everyone, especially those with smaller wrists or watches with larger lugs. To try this hack, remove the band from your mechanical watch, lay the Fitbit Air’s nylon band across the back of the watch, and insert the watch band’s pins into the watch to hold the Fitbit band in place.

Keep in mind that this setup may not provide the most accurate readings, as the Fitbit Air is placed on the bottom of your wrist, away from your skin. However, if you have a large wrist and a mechanical watch with 18-millimeter lugs, this hack may work for you.

Turn Off the Overbearing AI Coach

While the AI coach in the Google Health app can be helpful in some ways, it can also be overwhelming and annoying. To turn it off, go to your profile picture in the upper right corner, tap on Your Data, and then on Manage Feature Privacy Controls. Tap on Google Health Coach and turn it off. You can also turn it back on by tapping the ‘ask coach’ button in the bottom right corner of the app.

Get More Accurate Step Counts on Your Fitbit Air

The Fitbit Air counts your steps by detecting the movement of your wrist. However, this can sometimes lead to overcounting, especially when you’re walking or moving your arms. To avoid this, consider wearing your Fitbit Air on your non-dominant hand. If it’s still overcounting, go into your device settings, tap on Device preferences, and set Wrist preference to Dominant, even if you’re wearing it on your non-dominant hand.

Add Exercises to Strength Workouts After the Fact

The Fitbit Air can track strength training sessions, but you need to tell it what exercises you’re doing. To add exercises to your strength workouts after the fact, go to the Coach, upload a picture that shows your workout, and the Coach will detect the exercises, sets, and reps from that photo. You can also describe the workout in your own words, if you remember it.

Dye the Band of Your Fitbit Air to a Better Color

The Fitbit Air’s bands only come in a few colors, and they’re a little weird. If you end up with a color you don’t love, you can try dyeing the band with Rit DyeMore Synthetic. This can give you a unique and personalized look for your Fitbit Air.

Nuke Your Fitbit Air’s Dashboard to Build It Properly

The Fitbit Air’s dashboard can be cluttered and overwhelming, but there’s an easy way to clean it up. Simply delete all the tiles and then re-add the ones you want, in order. This will give you a clean and organized dashboard that’s easy to navigate.
