Henderson, who did not play in the match, fell over an advertising board while celebrating with his teammates behind a goal. The injury left his status for England’s quarterfinal meeting with Norway in question.

England manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed the injury, stating that Henderson was currently at the hospital and that the injury was quite serious. Tuchel expressed his disappointment, saying, ‘It just doesn’t fit to the evening that Jordan is now not with us. I don’t know the procedure or what’s going on.’

Henderson’s injury occurred after a thrilling 3-2 win for England, which secured their spot in the quarterfinals. The victory was led by fellow midfielder Jude Bellingham’s two scores in the first half. Harry Kane added a crucial 60th-minute penalty kick, but also triggered a Mexico penalty kick in the 69th minute, which tightened the score.

Henderson has played 119 minutes of action during the Three Lions’ World Cup run. Footage of Henderson’s injury sequence has surfaced on social media, showing the midfielder attempting to clear the board behind a teammate. He placed his hands on the board and cleared it with his right foot, but clipped the other side as he attempted a hurdle.

After attempting to clear the board, Henderson fell directly on his left wrist. Several teammates immediately called for medical personnel to help Henderson, who was stretchered off and taken to a hospital.

England defender Dan Burn expressed his concern, saying, ‘Hendo fell when he was jumping over the barrier, so he’s hurt himself. I’m not entirely sure what the outcome is. Sending him best wishes.’

The Three Lions will face Norway without the help of defender Jarell Quansah, who received a red card in the 54th minute of Sunday’s win. The infraction caused the Three Lions to play with 10 men against Mexico’s 11 for the majority of the second half of their Round of 16 win.

Tuchel expressed his disappointment with Quansah’s actions, stating, ‘Jarell is very upset, of course. It’s disappointing and a setback because we were good in the match.’

The No. 4 Three Lions will face the No. 19 Norwegians at 5 p.m. EDT Saturday in Miami. The winner will then take on the winner of a Round of 16 meeting between No. 15 Switzerland and No. 11 Colombia or No. 2 Argentina or No. 24 Egypt in a World Cup semifinal on July 15 in Atlanta.

England’s Wrist Injury Woes

Henderson’s injury adds to England’s growing list of concerns heading into the quarterfinals. The team will need to regroup and focus on their upcoming match against Norway without the help of several key players.

England’s determination to succeed in the World Cup will be put to the test as they navigate the challenges of injuries and player suspensions. The team’s resolve will be crucial in their quest for victory in the tournament.

The World Cup has been filled with thrilling matches and dramatic moments, but England’s injury woes have cast a shadow over their otherwise promising campaign.
