Funeral Procession Underway in Iran

The funeral procession for the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began on Monday in Iran, drawing hundreds of thousands of mourners to the city’s streets.

The six-day funeral procession will take Khamenei’s coffin from the Grand Mosalla of Tehran and through the city’s streets, before moving on to Qom, an Iranian holy city, and finally to a Shiite holy site in Iraq.

Khamenei, 86, was killed in a military strike by the United States, along with several members of his family. His body is being joined by those of his family members who were also killed in the strike.

Memorial activities for Khamenei took place over the weekend, with three of his sons in attendance on Sunday. However, his successor, Mojtaba Khamenei, who was injured in the strike that killed his family members, has not been seen in public since his father’s death on February 28.

The funeral procession’s route has been altered due to the size of the crowd, with thousands of mourners lining the streets to pay their respects to the late Supreme Leader.

Talks between the United States and Iran are on hold for the duration of Khamenei’s funeral, as the international community comes together to pay its respects to the late leader.

In a statement made on Monday, President Donald Trump reiterated that Iran’s military ‘has been destroyed’, and claimed that the United States has ‘eviscerated’ the country militarily.

‘Iran, we’re doing actually equally as well, we’re just not getting the kind of coverage that we should, but we have eviscerated them militarily, and the bottom line is our country is strong,’ Trump said in a statement from the Oval Office.

Trump’s comments come as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate, with the country’s interim leader, Juan Guaidó, alleging that the Venezuelan government is attempting to destabilize the country in the wake of a devastating earthquake.

In other news, British F-35 jets intercepted Russian aircraft in the Norwegian Sea on Monday, in a tense standoff between the two nations.

Additionally, President Trump took to the Oval Office to promote Dell stock, highlighting the company’s strong performance in the tech industry.
