EXCLUSIVE: Jimmy Tatro Set to Join Live-Action Superman Spinoff Series ‘DC Crime’
Jimmy Tatro is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming live-action Superman spinoff series ‘DC Crime,’ sources close to production reveal. The news arrives ahead of the official greenlight for the series, which is set to center around Jimmy Olsen hosting a true-crime docuseries.
According to sources, Tatro is being considered for the role of Gorilla Grodd, a hyper-intelligent telepathic ape who has sought to rule both the simian and human worlds. The character was created in 1959 and has even starred in the former DC’s Arrow-verse.
DC Crime comes from Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of Netflix’s American Vandal series, which was a true-crime satire series that ran from 2017-2018. They will write, executive produce, and showrun the series, with James Gunn and Peter Safran serving as executive producers alongside Galen Vaisman, who will oversee production.
Warner Bros. Television is also producing the series, which will reportedly focus on DC bad guy Gorilla Grodd, who often wrestles The Flash. Grodd had psychic powers and other skills after his encounter with an alien spaceship.
Tatro was most recently seen in Scream 7, from Kevin Williamson and Paramount Pictures. His credits include Netflix’s American Vandal, the streaming series The Real Bros of Simi Valley, ABC’s Modern Family, and Home Economics.
The series is set to premiere on HBO Max, although an official release date has not been announced. Fans of the DC universe and true-crime enthusiasts alike will be eagerly awaiting the premiere of DC Crime, which promises to bring a unique blend of action, suspense, and drama to the small screen.
