Des Carey, a seasoned executive with a long history in the film and technology industries, has joined Dublin-based VFX and post-production studio Elephant Goldfish as Executive Director of Strategic Growth & Innovation. With a career spanning over 25 years, Carey has worked across production, post-production, and technology, collaborating with renowned filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams, David Fincher, Robert Zemeckis, and Gore Verbinski.
Des Carey began his career at Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco, where he gained valuable experience in the early days of digital filmmaking. He later held senior roles at Company 3, where he played a key part in developing early digital intermediate workflows. Carey went on to become one of the founding partners of the Los Angeles post-production facility Light Iron, leading Resurgent Film Group, and most recently served as Global Head of Cinematic Innovation at Samsung.
As Executive Director of Strategic Growth & Innovation at Elephant Goldfish, Carey will work closely with the studio’s team in Dublin and colleagues across the Molinare Creative Group, of which the studio is a member.
