Future has solidified his position as one of the most successful artists in the music industry by debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 chart with his latest album ‘The Real Me’. This milestone marks Future’s 12th number one album, catapulting him to fifth place in the all-time chart-topping album artists ranking. The rapper’s impressive achievement leaves Eminem behind, and he now holds the fifth spot, tied with only a handful of artists who have achieved this feat.

Breakdown of the Chart-Topping Album

Future’s ‘The Real Me’ debuted with an impressive 131,000 equivalent album units, easily surpassing Olivia Rodrigo’s ‘You Look Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love’, which held on to the second spot with 96,000 units. The album’s streaming numbers far outstrip sales, with only 13,000 copies sold but 120.29 million on-demand streams, which translated into 118,000 SEA units. This is typical for hip-hop, where streaming numbers often dominate sales.

The Rolling Stones’ ‘Foreign Tongues’ also made a notable entry in the top 10, debuting at number seven with 53,000 equivalent album units. This is roughly in the same ballpark as a recent album by the Stones’ contemporary, Paul McCartney, which debuted with 63,000 units in June. The remaining top 10 entry was the soundtrack for television’s ‘Heated Rivalry’, which premiered in the number nine slot with 41,000 units. Billboard reported that this marked the first time a TV soundtrack had bowed in the top 10 in more than a decade.

Interestingly, the ‘Heated Rivalry’ numbers came down entirely to sales, with 41,000 copies sold on CD and vinyl and 41,000 units altogether. This is because the score album already came out digitally back in January, but it never accrued enough units on streaming alone to impact the chart prior to the July physical release.

The top 10 is rounded out by Morgan Wallen’s ‘I’m the Problem’ at number three, Ella Langley at number four, Noah Kahan at number five, Drake at number six, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ at number eight, and Wallen’s ‘One Thing at a Time’ at number ten.

Madonna’s ‘Confessions II’, which debuted at number one last week, has dropped out of the top 10 after its impressive debut. The chart position of ‘Confessions II’ in week two is yet to be known, as Luminate and Billboard only release the list of the top 10 albums on Sunday.
