TIFF 2026 Lineup Revealed
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has unveiled its initial lineup for the 51st annual event, set to take place from September 10 to 20 in Canada. The festival promises to be an exciting celebration of cinema, featuring new films from acclaimed directors and actors.
This year’s Gala and Special Presentations roster boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including Pedro Almodóvar, Danny Boyle, Lee Chang-dong, Jesse Eisenberg, Gael García Bernal, Hirokazu Kore-eda, John Madden, and Chris Rock. Each of these filmmakers brings their unique vision to the table, ensuring a diverse and captivating selection of films.
‘I Play Rocky’ – A New Take on a Classic
One of the most anticipated films in the lineup is ‘I Play Rocky,’ directed by Peter Farrelly (Green Book) and starring Anthony Ippolito as a young Sylvester Stallone. The movie explores the making of Stallone’s 1976 breakout film Rocky, delving into the challenges and triumphs faced by the iconic actor and writer.
With a talented cast that includes AnnaSophia Robb, Toby Kebbell, and Jay Duplass, ‘I Play Rocky’ promises to be an engaging and emotional ride. The film will open in select theaters on November 6 before a wide release on November 20.
‘Misty Green’ – A Drama Written and Directed by Chris Rock
Chris Rock makes his feature directorial debut since Top Five (2014) with ‘Misty Green,’ a drama that showcases his versatility as a writer, director, and actor. The film follows Rosalind Eleazar as the title character, an actress who gets a second chance at a comeback after reconnecting with someone from her past.
With an all-star cast that includes Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, and Anna Kendrick, ‘Misty Green’ is sure to be a highlight of the festival. Rock’s unique voice and vision shine through in this poignant and powerful drama.
‘Always Lalisa’ – A Documentary on Lisa’s Life and Career
‘Always Lalisa’ is a documentary that explores the life and career of Lisa, a Thai singer and actress who rose to fame as a member of the K-pop girl group Blackpink. Directed by Sue Kim, the film provides an intimate look at Lisa’s journey, from her early days as a member of the group to her current status as a global superstar.
With exclusive access to Lisa’s personal life and career, ‘Always Lalisa’ promises to be a fascinating and inspiring documentary that will leave audiences in awe.

The TIFF 2026 lineup also includes a range of other notable films, including Evil Genius directed by Courteney Cox, Girl Group from Rebel Wilson, Onwards and Sideways by John Madden, The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd directed by Tim Blake Nelson, and Bitter Christmas by Pedro Almodóvar.
Additionally, the festival will feature films like Hombre al agua from Gael García Bernal, Ink by Danny Boyle, Look Back, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda, Paradise Lost by Yeon Sang-ho, Possible Love from Lee Chang-dong, and The Debut by Jesse Eisenberg.
