Final Trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day Unveils a Few New Shots
The wait is almost over, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day is just two weeks away from its theatrical release on July 31. Today, Marvel and Sony have released the final trailer for the highly anticipated blockbuster, which offers a few new glimpses into the upcoming movie.
For those who may have missed the previous trailers or need a quick refresher, the first half of the final trailer acts as a rapid-fire recap of the events that have led up to this point. We see a young-looking Tom Holland’s Peter Parker meeting his best friend Ned and girlfriend MJ, before both characters are made to forget his existence. The chemistry between Tom Holland and Zendaya is undeniable, making it clear why their on-screen relationship has captivated audiences.
However, for those looking for all-new shots, the trailer has relatively few. One of the most notable new additions is a snippet of Bruce Banner in full Hulk mode, roaring ‘No Banner! Only Hulk!’ as he unleashes his rage. Additionally, we see a new quip from Spider-Man as he takes on a cluster of ninja monks from the criminal group The Hand, exclaiming ‘Could we do this one at a time, please?!’ The trailer concludes with a fun moment from Ned, who realizes that Spider-Man is in the building just as he notices the superhero standing right in front of him.
It’s clear that Marvel and Sony have carefully curated the promotional campaign for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, withholding certain secrets until the film’s release. With the title being described as the final trailer, it’s likely that the film’s promotional campaign has now revealed everything it’s going to ahead of the movie’s launch. Some fans may be disappointed that this final trailer did not show more, but with the film so close and numerous secrets still under wraps, perhaps the time has come to leave the remaining answers for your first viewing.
There are still many unanswered questions surrounding the movie, including who Sadie Sink is playing, who the real villain of the film will be, whether Ned and MJ will get their memories back, and where exactly the movie will leave Peter Parker ahead of Marvel’s impending Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Director Destin Daniel Cretton has revealed that he was keeping the identity of Sadie Sink’s character a secret until fans see the film for a ‘very real reason’ that he believes fans won’t ‘get mad at,’ despite all the secrecy.
Sadie Sink has been almost entirely absent in trailers, but has now begun giving interviews on Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s promotional tour, with rather amusingly tight-lipped results. Online, however, most fans are now pretty convinced that Sink has been cast as X-Men star Jean Grey. Tom Holland recently revealed that the film’s title would only make sense in ‘the final frame of the movie,’ something Cretton has since backed up. ‘The title, to me, does reflect where he ends up,’ the director acknowledged. ‘The journey of this movie is about searching for that feeling of a brand-new day. I don’t think he really has that feeling in the beginning of this movie.’
With the film’s launch date fast approaching, fans are eagerly awaiting the answers to these questions and more. Only then will we find out who Sadie Sink is playing, who the real villain of the film will be, whether Ned and MJ will get their memories back, and where exactly the movie will leave Peter Parker ahead of Marvel’s impending Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
