EXCLUSIVE: Louis Cancelmi has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming Hulu pilot ‘Chicks’, which also stars Ellen Pompeo and Jodie Whittaker. The dramedy, written and executive produced by Katie Robbins, follows the lives of two estranged half-sisters, Chickie and Doreen, who are struggling to get by after their father’s sudden passing. As they navigate their new reality, they turn to a life of crime, with the help of their new business partner, Danny McKeever, played by Cancelmi.
‘Chicks’ is based on an original idea from Robbins, inspired by conversations she had with Pompeo on the set of their first project together, the Hulu limited series ‘Good American Family’. The pilot is set in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods of old Boston and explores themes of family, love, and loyalty.
Cancelmi’s character, Danny McKeever, is a complex and intriguing one. With a poet’s soul and a con-man’s dreams, he’s been stuck running his family’s funeral home for decades.
