According to Argentine journalist Germán García Grova of TyC Sports, Vozinha has agreed to an 18-month contract with the only Chilean club to have won the Copa Libertadores.

Vozinha, a 40-year-old goalkeeper, had been without a club since July 1, after his deal with Chaves of Portugal expired. He had been linked with clubs in Brazil’s Serie B, but talks did not progress.

Before joining Chaves, Vozinha played for various clubs, including Batuque, a Cape Verdean club, where he rose through the ranks. He also played for Mindelense in his home country before spells with Progresso Sambizanga (Angola), Zimbru (Moldova), Gil Vicente, AEL Limassol (Cyprus), and AS Trencin (Slovakia).

His impressive performance in the opening World Cup match against Spain caused a significant surge in his social media following, with his Instagram followers increasing to 29.5 million, a figure higher than that of any Brazilian club.

Vozinha’s impressive displays in Cape Verde’s subsequent matches caught the attention of FIFA, who named him to the tournament’s Best XI. His team reached the knockout stage in its first World Cup and was eliminated by Argentina in extra time in the Round of 32.

The Chilean Championship is currently led by Colo-Colo, which has also qualified for the Copa Chile round of 16 after failing to qualify for this year’s Copa Libertadores or Copa Sudamericana. Vozinha will be the most experienced player in the squad managed by Fernando Ortiz, taking over the spot that had belonged to 39-year-old Arturo Vidal, formerly of Flamengo, Athletico, Juventus, Bayern, and Leverkusen.

Colo-Colo’s signing of Vozinha is seen as a significant boost to the team’s chances in the Chilean Championship and other upcoming tournaments. The 18-month contract will give Vozinha ample time to make a significant impact at the club and potentially lead them to victory in various competitions.

The addition of Vozinha to the Colo-Colo squad is expected to bring a new level of excitement and skill to the team, and fans are eagerly awaiting his debut and the potential success that he may bring.

Vozinha’s experience and skill will undoubtedly be an asset to the team, and his signing is a testament to the club’s commitment to attracting top talent and competing at the highest level.
