Nintendo has rolled out an unexpected update for its popular launch title Mario Kart World on the Switch 2 console. The update brings new routes to the game’s Knockout Tour mode, providing fans with fresh challenges to tackle.

New Routes for Knockout Tour Mode

The latest update introduces two new routes for the Knockout Tour mode: Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally. These routes are not entirely new tracks but rather groupings of six existing courses that players must navigate through without getting eliminated. The Drill Rally route connects Wario Shipyard to Bowser’s Castle, while the Boomerang Rally route spans from Salty Salty Speedway to Whistlestop Summit.

To access these new routes, players must clear at least one Knockout Tour rally. This means that fans who have already conquered the existing routes will have the opportunity to earn two additional gold trophies. Nintendo has also confirmed that more routes will be added to the game in the future, so players can look forward to even more challenges and excitement.

No Major Tweaks to the Game’s World

While the update does not bring significant changes to Mario Kart World’s actual world, fans had been hoping for a more substantial overhaul. In a previous patch, Nintendo had made some minor tweaks to one of the game’s less exciting areas, but this latest update is more focused on adding new content to the Knockout Tour mode.

The ability to add stickers collected in Photo Mode to in-game pictures is another notable addition to the update. This feature allows players to get creative with their screenshots and share them with the Mario Kart World community.

Future Updates and Expectations

Nintendo’s commitment to supporting Mario Kart World with regular updates is a welcome sign for fans. While the game’s community has been eagerly awaiting the addition of new characters, karts, and courses, the latest update shows that the developer is still invested in the game’s long-term success.

The wait for all-new tracks in Mario Kart World may be ongoing, but this latest update is a step in the right direction. As Nintendo continues to support the game with new content and features, fans can look forward to even more exciting developments in the future.
