The privately owned motorboat was carrying six adults and four children when a severe storm hit at around 12:10 p.m. The boaters attempted to navigate the treacherous waters but were overwhelmed by the high winds and waves. Despite wearing life jackets, the children were unable to escape the sinking vessel.
Rescuers were quickly dispatched to the scene and managed to pull the adults and one child to safety. However, an intensive search was required to locate the remaining three children, who were later pronounced dead at the scene and on the way to the hospital.
The victims are believed to be under the age of 13, according to a source. The deaths are currently under investigation by the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

Undersheriff Tom Hausner of Walworth County, Wisconsin, expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, stating, ‘Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of those, not only of those people, but the people who were injured as a result of the storm. We know that there were many injuries, people transported to local hospitals and diversion from the hospitals because of the number of injuries.’
