Valve Steam Machine
Valve’s highly-anticipated Steam Machine has finally arrived, bringing the Steam library to the living room. However, as senior reporter Jessica Conditt discovered during her review, the Steam Machine falls short in terms of performance and price. In a hypothetical future where the price of a Steam Machine falls to something more reasonable, like $600, it would still be a tough sell due to its built-in hardware limitations. Whether a gen-two Valve console nails it, or another company takes advantage of SteamOS and builds a box with the right balance of specs and price, the Steam Machine remains a good idea. At the moment, however, it requires better execution.

Conditt’s review highlights the Steam Machine’s inability to match the performance of high-end gaming PCs. Despite its potential, the Steam Machine’s underpowered hardware and high price point make it a less-than-ideal option for gamers.

While the Steam Machine may not be the best choice for gamers, it’s worth noting that Valve is committed to improving the product. In an interview, Valve’s Doug Lombardi stated that the company is working on a new Steam Machine that will address some of the current model’s limitations.

Samsung Music Studio 7
For those looking to boost their TV audio without the hassle of a soundbar, Samsung’s Music Studio 7 is an excellent alternative. As I discovered during my review, the Music Studio 7 speaker primarily functions as a standalone device, but it’s even better as a home theater stereo pair. In fact, I’d argue that the audio from two Studio 7s surpasses Samsung’s best soundbar, and at $1,000 for the pair, you might even save some money over other premium soundbars. Even if you only opt for one, you won’t be disappointed in the mix of sound quality and features Samsung packed into this speaker.
The Music Studio 7’s impressive audio capabilities are thanks in part to its advanced speaker technology. With a 3.1-channel speaker setup and a built-in subwoofer, the Music Studio 7 delivers rich, immersive sound that’s perfect for movie nights or gaming sessions.
One of the standout features of the Music Studio 7 is its sleek and compact design. Measuring just 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep, the Music Studio 7 is perfect for small spaces or apartments. Its slim profile makes it easy to place on a shelf or in a corner, and its compact size means it won’t take up too much space on your entertainment center.
Oura Ring 5
The latest Oura Ring, the Oura Ring 5, may not boast any flashy new features, but as senior reporter Daniel Cooper discovered, that’s just fine. Taking the class-leading wearable and shrinking it this much is a massive deal, especially since it comes with longer battery life. In every other regard, it’s not a dramatic leap beyond the Ring 4, and the real magic will come in the utility of its services.
The Oura Ring 5’s sleek and modern design makes it a stylish addition to any outfit. Its slim profile and minimalist aesthetic mean it’s perfect for everyday wear, and its advanced health tracking features make it an excellent choice for fitness enthusiasts.
One of the standout features of the Oura Ring 5 is its advanced sleep tracking capabilities. With the ability to track sleep quality, duration, and even sleep stages, the Oura Ring 5 provides a detailed picture of your sleep patterns. This information can be used to improve sleep quality, boost energy levels, and even enhance overall well-being.
HP OmniBook Ultra 14
Since consolidating its laptop lineup, HP hasn’t had a flagship model that could take on the likes of Apple and Dell. Senior reporter Sam Rutherford argues that the company has returned to top form with the OmniBook Ultra 14. As the king of the hill atop HP’s consumer laptop lineup, the OmniBook Ultra doesn’t disappoint. You can quibble about the lack of an SD card slot or HDMI port, and HP’s annoying popups and system alerts, but there’s no doubt the company has made a first-class ultraportable. It has an exquisite design with a brilliant display, strong performance, and solid battery life.
Rutherford’s review highlights the OmniBook Ultra’s impressive performance capabilities. With a range of processor options and up to 16GB of RAM, the OmniBook Ultra is more than capable of handling demanding tasks like video editing and gaming.
One of the standout features of the OmniBook Ultra is its impressive battery life. With up to 14 hours of battery life, the OmniBook Ultra is perfect for long trips or extended work sessions. Its compact size and lightweight design make it easy to carry around, and its advanced power-saving features mean you can enjoy hours of battery life without needing to recharge.
Alienware 34 QD-OLED
The Alienware OLED display lineup just got a boost from Samsung’s latest panel tech, and the result is something truly spectacular. As senior reporter Devindra Hardawar discovered during his review, the AW3426DW is a game-changer for gamers and content creators alike. Despite his initial surprise over the AW3426DW’s size, it still looked spectacular the moment he turned it on. My eyes immediately noticed that it was a bit brighter than my Alienware 32-inch monitor, and the added color depth made my Windows 11 background and images on our own site pop a bit more.
The AW3426DW’s impressive display capabilities are thanks in part to its advanced OLED panel technology. With a 34-inch QD-OLED display and a 3440 x 1440 resolution, the AW3426DW delivers vibrant, lifelike colors and an immersive viewing experience that’s perfect for gaming, video editing, and other demanding tasks.
One of the standout features of the AW3426DW is its impressive color accuracy. With a 99% DCI-P3 color gamut and a 1ms response time, the AW3426DW is perfect for content creators who need precise color control. Its advanced display technology also means it’s ideal for gaming, with fast response times and low input lag making it a great choice for competitive gamers.
