Nottingham Forest Eyeing Tottenham Midfielder Lucas Bergvall
Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to make a £45m offer for Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, following a rejected bid of £38m last week.

Bergvall, a 20-year-old Swedish international, has been a key player for Tottenham, despite limited playing time at the end of last season. He joined Spurs in 2024 from Swedish club Djurgarden and was named the club’s player of the year after his first Premier League season, at the end of which Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy with Europa League victory.
In April 2025, he signed a new contract until 2031, but it appears that Bergvall is now looking to leave the club. The Sweden international has 14 caps for his country and played at the World Cup, where his side were beaten in the last 32 by France.
Bergvall’s move to Nottingham Forest would be a significant coup for the club, who are believed to be looking for another midfielder in addition to Bergvall. Forest are also reportedly looking to strengthen their goalkeeping and striking options, with a new goalkeeper and striker set to be added to the squad.
In a press conference earlier this week, Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner was asked about the prospect of Bergvall joining the club. While he didn’t directly refer to the midfielder, he did hint that the club are looking to bring in new players. ‘I have one strength and weakness, it’s impatience,’ Glasner said. ‘Sometimes it’s a strength, sometimes it’s a weakness. Of course, I would have hoped they already trained with us on the other side.’
Glasner’s comments suggest that the club are eager to bring in new players, but are also aware of the challenges that come with trying to sign top talent. With Forest’s record-breaking move for Elliot Anderson to Manchester City still fresh in the minds of fans, the club will be hoping to make a big impact in the transfer market this summer.
However, it appears that Forest are taking a more measured approach to their transfer business this summer. ‘Nobody wants to get divorced’ – Glasner’s comments on the Forest challenge are a fitting reflection of the club’s approach to the transfer market. With a focus on adding quality over quantity, Forest are looking to build a strong squad that can compete with the best teams in the Premier League.
Only time will tell if Nottingham Forest’s £45m offer for Lucas Bergvall will be successful, but one thing is certain – the club are serious about making a big impact in the transfer market this summer.
