Deadpool’s Future: Ryan Reynolds Talks Fourth Film and Unadapted Comic Book Material

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has been teasing plans for a fourth outing as the merc with a mouth, and in a recent discussion at Fanatics Fest, he hinted that there are still ‘deep cuts’ from the Marvel comics that his next film could feature.

Reynolds has starred in three Deadpool films to date, with the 2024 release of Deadpool & Wolverine earning a massive $1.3 billion at the box office. While a sequel seems assured, Reynolds has previously mentioned that he was working on ideas, even if a follow-up still sounds fairly far-off.

Reynolds also mentioned Gerry Duggan, a friend and an incredible comic book writer, who has penned notable works such as Deadpool: Dracula’s Gauntlet, Deadpool vs. SHIELD, Deadpool Does Shakespeare, and Wedding of Deadpool, among many others.

Reynolds’ comments suggest that he is eager to explore more of the Deadpool comics and bring them to life on the big screen. However, it’s worth noting that no concrete plans have been made for a fourth Deadpool film, and Reynolds has also been developing an idea for an ensemble film, which could potentially involve multiple X-Men characters.
