Marvel’s Long-Term Plan Unveiled
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has shared the company’s ambitious plan to create movies and TV shows all the way up to 2042, with a major focus on the X-Men franchise and live-action Miles Morales.
During a recent tour of Shanghai, Feige discussed the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars movies, stating that they will conclude storylines that started before the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) itself. He also hinted at a streamlined, simplified universe post-Avengers: Secret Wars, with a focus on new and exciting storylines.
‘We want to do two things,’ Feige explained. ‘First, to bring some storylines to a close, those that started long before Iron Man, including the original X-Men characters. Second, to simultaneously set the stage for the future.’
Feige emphasized that the new MCU will attract a ‘new generation of audiences’ and will feature a mix of familiar and new elements. He also confirmed that the X-Men will be at the core of the franchise, with a multi-stage saga that will be developed over the next few years.
Some of the key projects in the works include a live-action Miles Morales movie, which will be part of the Spider-Man franchise. Feige stated that the character has ‘destiny’ to be featured in a live-action movie, and that the production team is already working on the next two to five Spider-Man movies.
Other projects in the pipeline include a Nova movie, a Shang-Chi 2, and a Doctor Strange 3. Feige also mentioned that the Fantastic Four and Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) will be featured in future movies.

X-Men at the Core
Feige emphasized that the X-Men will be at the core of the franchise, with a multi-stage saga that will be developed over the next few years. He stated that acquiring the X-Men rights was not just about individual characters, but about a universe and a multi-stage saga.
‘Fundamentally, the X-Men will be at its core,’ Feige said. ‘Acquiring the X-Men rights isn’t just about… for example, Wolverine is an outstanding character, and we were able to team him up with Deadpool, which is great. But the X-Men are far more than just Wolverine, far more than the original team; fundamentally, it’s a universe, a multi-stage saga.’
Live-Action Miles Morales
Feige confirmed that the character has ‘destiny’ to be featured in a live-action movie, and that the production team is already working on the next two to five Spider-Man movies. He stated that the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series is excellent, and that Beyond the Universe is coming out next year.
‘The good news is, Sony has the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse series, which are very popular and excellent, and Beyond the Universe is coming out next year,’ Feige said. ‘But yes, we definitely have plans, and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends.’
