While multiple journalists have claimed the deal to be complete with an imminent announcement, others have gone on to refute the claims and insist that there are some important details yet to be finalised.

PSG’s sudden re-entry to the race after being ousted from the pole position, needless to say, arrived as the latest obstacle in Los Blancos’ objective of closing the signing immediately.

PSG’s Official Statement

Late last night, in a breaking update, PSG released an official statement via Sky Sports confirming that they are stepping out of the race for Diomande, handing Real Madrid a massive boost.

“PSG has this evening formally withdrawn its interest and its bids for Yan Diomande,” the statement began.

It was followed by an explanation of why they were stepping aside and they blamed the ‘disproportionate’ financial demands, and quite ironically so for a club of PSG’s history.

“The asking transfer fee and salary demands were completely disproportionate and distortive – and PSG will not break its principles of rational financial management and squad balance,” the statement continued.

The statement then hit out indirectly at Real Madrid’s entry onto the scene and how Los Blancos were ‘inflating’ and ‘manipulating’ the transfer.

“As a two-time consecutive Champions League winner and the most successful club in recent history, PSG will also not engage in the inflationary and manipulative games of certain player agents – and will instead calmly and confidently continue its transfer planning,” the statement concluded.

Deal set in stone

PSG were Real Madrid’s biggest competitors in the Diomande saga and have been said to be left fuming after Los Blancos swooped in and stole a target they had an agreement with.

Their official exit from the race, needless to say, hands Real Madrid a massive boost and all but confirms the deal for Florentino Perez and Co.

Multiple outlets have already claimed an agreement is in place over a transfer until 2031, and all signs point to the announcement being imminent. After all, Jose Mourinho will want to get his hands on the new signing at the earliest.

The impact of PSG’s withdrawal on the transfer market cannot be overstated. With the French giants out of the running, Real Madrid now has a clear path to secure the signing of Yan Diomande, and it is likely that the deal will be announced in the coming days.
