As a child, Bodegård played a wide range of games, including Disney’s The Jungle Book, which he recalls as being ‘pretty hard.’ However, it was Dragon Age: Origins that truly sparked his passion for role-playing games (RPGs). ‘I’d played roleplaying games before, but that was the game that made me go ‘I love this genre,” he says.

Esoteric Ebb’s Inspiration and Future Projects
Bodegård’s next project is still in the early stages of development, but he has hinted that it will use the technology he developed for Esoteric Ebb. While it won’t be a direct sequel, Bodegård is excited to explore new ideas and mechanics in his future games.
In a recent interview, Bodegård shared his thoughts on his gaming influences and future projects. When asked about his favorite game, he revealed that it’s Deus Ex, which he played for the first time in high school. ‘It’s such a classic,’ he says. ‘I try to do something different every time. It’s such a good RPG because of that.’

Bodegård also shared his thoughts on his Steam library, which he claims has over 400 games installed. When asked about the oldest game currently installed on his PC, he revealed that it’s Heroes of Might and Magic 3, which he played extensively in his childhood.
In addition to Esoteric Ebb, Bodegård has also played other notable games, including Deus Ex, Diablo 2, and Europa Universalis IV. When asked about the highest number of hours he’s spent in any given game, he revealed that it’s Esoteric Ebb, with over 1,000 hours played.
However, when asked about his favorite game, he revealed that it’s Deus Ex, which he’s never uninstalled. ‘Sometimes I hop back into it,’ he says. ‘I’ve had some projects that are first-person. I want to do a first-person game at some point.’
