Discovering the Delights of MSC Poesia
As we embarked on our seven-night Alaska voyage aboard the refurbished MSC Poesia, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This was MSC Cruises’ inaugural season in Alaska, and we were eager to experience the unique offerings of this luxurious ship.

MSC Poesia, a member of the Musica Class fleet, has undergone significant refurbishments, including the addition of the popular luxury ship-within-a-ship concept, MSC Yacht Club. This exclusive area features 69 staterooms and suites, all with 24-hour butler service, and offers guests access to a spacious sun deck, a grill, a bar, and whirlpools, as well as the Yacht Club Restaurant and the Top Sail Lounge. Spread across six decks at the front of the ship, MSC Yacht Club provides a serene and luxurious atmosphere, perfect for relaxation and socializing.

Our MSC Yacht Club stateroom was a haven of tranquility, with plush furnishings and a comfortable bed. The 24-hour butler service was a highlight, as our attentive butlers delivered drinks and snacks to our room, allowing us to indulge in the finest amenities while enjoying the breathtaking views of the ocean.
Whale Watching from the Top Sail Lounge
One of the most unforgettable experiences on MSC Poesia was watching for whales from the Top Sail Lounge. The nearly floor-to-ceiling windows offered a stunning view of the ocean, and we spent hours gazing out at the horizon, scanning the waters for any sign of these magnificent creatures. The lounge itself was a serene oasis, with plush chairs and couches arranged to face the ocean, creating a sense of calm and relaxation. In the evenings, the lounge was transformed into a sophisticated lounge, complete with a piano player and ambient music.
Exploring the Ports of Call
Our weeklong itinerary took us to various ports in Alaska, each offering a unique experience. In Ketchikan, we embarked on the Rainforest Canopy & Zipline Adventure, which took us soaring through the Tongass National Forest. Our naturalist guide, Taylor, shared fascinating insights into the native flora and fauna, including the skunk cabbage, which is sought after by bears emerging from their winter slumbers. We also learned about the devil’s club, which is harvested by Indigenous people for its medicinal properties.
As we navigated the ziplines, our guides ensured our safety and provided encouragement and support. We spent the next hour or so flying through the spruce and hemlock trees, taking in the breathtaking views and snapping selfies to commemorate the experience. This was truly an experience we will never forget.
