Lia Eastep’s father had a stroke when she was just 21 years old, leaving him with limited mobility and a newfound vulnerability. Lia Eastep reflects on the experience, saying, ‘Because I was 21, I didn’t really realize the significance until later on. As I learned to recognize my dad’s vulnerability, I realized that the stranger had provided him with dignity by making the situation seem no big deal.’
The encounter left a lasting impression on Eastep, who now sees the stranger as a role model for how to behave in emergency situations. ‘The way that man was with my dad, it really made a big impact,’ she says.
