Subnautica 2 Early Access 1.1 Update: Creature Improvements and New Features
Subnautica 2 developer Unknown Worlds has announced the upcoming release of the game’s Early Access 1.1 update, dubbed Adaptive Measures, which will bring a range of improvements to the game’s creatures, biomods, and overall gameplay experience.
In a recent video, creative director Anthony Gallegos explained that the 1.1 update will focus on expanding the biomods system, allowing players to find and swap out more biomods as they play from the start. This will enable players to unlock more passive biomod slots, enabling them to take multiple passive biomods at the same time.
One of the most significant improvements in the 1.1 update is the enhancement of creature flinches. Most creatures in the game now have a good flinch, allowing players to see and understand the impact they have on the creatures when hit with the Survival Multitool. This improvement is designed to make players feel more connected to the creatures and their behavior.
Additionally, the Sonic Resonator has been improved, allowing players to clearly communicate with creatures that have been stunned. This feature ties into the new stunned states of creatures, making it easier for players to understand and interact with the game’s world.
The 1.1 update also includes improvements to blight encounters, making the transition from passive to aggressive creatures smoother. This should reduce the surprise factor for players and provide a more cohesive gameplay experience.
Furthermore, the update includes gameplay improvements around wrecks, adding more puzzle-solving and gameplay elements. The PDA has been improved to add clarity, and players will have a new personal storage option in their base, which is not connected to the fabricators and processors by default.
The 1.1 patch notes will be released later today, providing a detailed list of all the changes and improvements included in the update.
Looking ahead, the 1.2 update is set to bring multiplayer features, including proximity chat and player revive, while the big Early Access 2 update is scheduled to arrive later in the year, adding a new region, new creatures, new vehicle chassis, new progression, and new story to the game.
Subnautica 2 has been a huge hit, and earlier this month, it was confirmed that the entire Unknown Worlds staff will receive their bonuses after parent company Krafton reached a settlement with studio leadership. The settlement has allowed Unknown Worlds to continue leading development, with Krafton providing support for the success of the game.
