Ex-Pineapple Street Pair Launch New Podcast Shingle, Set Projects With Dan Taberski, Amy Poehler & Patrick Radden Keefe
One of the most prominent podcast production companies in the industry, Pineapple Street Studios, has shut down following its owner Audacy’s bankruptcy filing. However, two of its top executives have now come together to form a new podcast studio, Please and Thanks Productions, with a mission to create high-quality narrative documentary podcasts.
The new studio is founded by Joel Lovell, former Executive Editor at Pineapple Street, and Henry Molofsky, an Executive Producer who worked at the company from its inception in 2016 until its closure. Lovell and Molofsky have a deep understanding of the industry and have worked with some of the most talented creators in the business.
At the helm of Please and Thanks Productions is a commitment to producing high-quality narrative documentary podcasts that captivate audiences. The studio has already partnered with some of the most prominent names in the industry, including Dan Taberski, Amy Poehler, and Patrick Radden Keefe.
Taberski is known for his work on Running From Cops, Surviving Y2K, The Line, 9/12, and Hysterical, and has now launched his latest project, Manifesto!, with Please and Thanks Productions. The six-part series sees Taberski embark on his most complicated quest yet, as he attempts to reclaim the manifesto from mass shooters and return it to its rightful place with the artists, warriors, visionaries, and regular folks with something to say.
Manifesto! is the first release from Please and Thanks Productions and is expected to be a huge hit with audiences. The series is hosted by Taberski, who takes listeners on a journey that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.
In addition to Taberski’s project, Please and Thanks Productions has also partnered with Amy Poehler’s Paper Kite Productions on a new documentary audio series. The series, which is expected to launch in 2027, is produced in association with Long Run and is being sold to Universal Studio Group Audio. The project marks a significant foray into documentary audio for Paper Kite Productions, which is headed up by Jenna Weiss-Berman, a co-founder of Pineapple Street.
The studio has also partnered with Patrick Radden Keefe, author of the recent hit book London Falling, on an audio-documentary podcast in the music space. Keefe is known for his investigative reporting and has a keen eye for storytelling, making him a perfect fit for Please and Thanks Productions.
At a time when fewer companies are making narrative documentary podcasts, Please and Thanks is built on the belief that the appetite for great audio storytelling never went away, even as business models have changed. If you tell good stories and produce them at the highest level, audiences will give you their time and attention, and that’s worthwhile culturally and as a business.
With a team of experienced professionals and a commitment to producing high-quality content, Please and Thanks Productions is set to make a significant impact in the podcast industry. The studio’s debut project, Manifesto!, is a testament to its capabilities and is expected to be a huge hit with audiences.
