The entertainment world has lost a talented actor, Josh Grisetti, who was best known for his roles in the hit Broadway musicals ‘Something Rotten!’ and ‘It Shoulda Been You,’ as well as a recurring role in the critically acclaimed television series ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.’
According to his co-star and friend Rob McClure, Grisetti tragically passed away on Friday by suicide. He was just 44 years old.
McClure, who starred alongside Grisetti in ‘Something Rotten!’ for years, took to social media to share the devastating news with the world. He wrote, ‘It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday. Some of my all-time favorite memories were by this man’s side, playing his brother onstage for years.’
The two actors had a long history of working together, playing the roles of Nigel and Nick Bottom in the Broadway and traveling productions of ‘Something Rotten!’ The musical, which opened in 2015, was a hilarious and irreverent take on the life of William Shakespeare, and it earned widespread critical acclaim for its clever writing and talented cast.
Grisetti’s other notable Broadway credits include his 2015 appearance in ‘It Shoulda Been You’ as Marty Kaufman. He also made a name for himself in the television world, with a recurring role as Ralph Emerson in the fifth season of ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.’ In addition to his work on this popular Amazon series, Grisetti also appeared in episodes of ‘The Knights of Prosperity,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ and ‘The Good Fight.’
While Grisetti’s passing is a tragic loss for the entertainment community, his legacy will live on through his impressive body of work. Fans and friends are taking to social media to share their memories of the talented actor and to express their condolences to his loved ones.
