Netflix Reality Series Reveals Top Performers
Netflix recently released its biannual ‘What We Watched’ report, providing valuable insights into the streamer’s top-performing unscripted series over the first six months of 2026. The report highlights the immense popularity of ‘Age of Attraction,’ a reality series that explores the concept of ageless love.
‘Age of Attraction,’ produced by Velvet Hammer Media, debuted in March and has garnered significant attention from viewers. The show, hosted by Nick Viall and his wife Natalia Joy, asks the question: Is love truly ageless? The series has recorded an impressive 10.9 million views, making it Netflix’s top-performing new reality launch in the first half of 2026.
Interestingly, ‘Age of Attraction’ was not the only show to receive a significant number of views. The stand-up competition series ‘Funny AF with Kevin Hart’ technically recorded more views, bringing in close to 42 million. However, it’s essential to note that Netflix recorded views per episode rather than over the course of its 10 episodes. The most popular episode of ‘Funny AF with Kevin Hart’ drew an impressive 8.3 million views.
Other notable reality series on Netflix include ‘Members Only: Palm Beach,’ which follows a group of women in President Trump’s own Florida neighborhood. The show drew 3.4 million views, significantly higher than Netflix’s other big reality ensemble launch, ‘Calabasas Confidential.’ The latter, which launched in May and follows a group of lifelong friends who return to Calabasas, CA, post-college for a summer of reckoning, could not crack the top 1,500 series with only 1.5 million views.
Additionally, ‘Star Search,’ a live competition series hosted by Anthony Anderson, featuring a judging panel of Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chrissy Teigen, and Jelly Roll, struggled to gain traction. The show’s opening episode drew 2.6 million views, while its final three episodes drew a mere 600,000 views. Despite the show’s poor performance, Netflix’s former unscripted boss, Jeff Gaspin, remains optimistic about the streamer’s reality offerings.
‘We’re only 10 years old in our reality journey, and so we’re going to keep trying things. Some will work, some won’t, but it’s still an exciting time and place for us,’ Gaspin said in an interview. He also revealed that while ‘Star Search’ might not have a second season, the show was buoyed by the use of live technology.
Other notable reality series on Netflix include ‘What’s In The Box?, ‘ which was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and launched in December, drawing 1.7 million views, and ‘This Is A Gardening Show’ by Zach Galifianakis, which dug up 3 million views.
Returning shows, however, fared much better. Season 10 of ‘Love Is Blind’ scored 13.1 million views, while Season 4 of ‘Love on the Spectrum’ drew 11.2 million views.
Additionally, the documentary series ‘Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model’ drew an impressive 22.4 million views, while ‘Simon Cowell: The Next Act’ could only muster 2.4 million views.
The ‘What We Watched’ report provides valuable insights into the preferences of Netflix viewers and highlights the streamer’s commitment to creating engaging reality content.
