It’s essential to note that higher fees don’t always mean lower rates. Rocket Mortgage, which charges 2 discount points, has secured the bottom spot in our survey with a 7.05% APR. This highlights the importance of shopping around and comparing rates and fees from multiple lenders.

According to our analysis, an APR difference of 0.62 percentage points separates the top lender, Navy Federal, from the bottom-ranked Rocket Mortgage. This significant gap emphasizes the importance of shopping multiple lenders to secure the best deal.

When shopping for mortgage rates, focus on the APR, which includes both the interest rate and lender fees. This will provide a more accurate picture of your annual borrowing costs. Additionally, consider purchasing discount points to lower your interest rate, but be aware that this will require an upfront fee.

Remember, the key to securing the lowest mortgage rate is shopping around and comparing rates and fees from multiple lenders. This could save borrowers up to an average of $44,000 over the life of a 30-year loan, according to analysis by Realtor.com.
