Tom Holland, the talented young actor known for his portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently opened up about his experiences promoting various films throughout his career. In a candid conversation with the Dish Podcast, Holland shared his thoughts on promoting movies, stating that when he’s proud of a film, it’s easy to talk about it, but when he’s not, it can be a challenge.

Easy Promotions vs. Difficult Ones

Holland explained that when he’s promoting a movie he’s truly proud of, the process is much simpler. ‘When they ask you questions about why should people go and watch this movie, you’re not lying to anyone,’ he said. ‘You really think people should go see it.’ This mindset makes promoting a film a much more enjoyable experience for the actor.

However, Holland also acknowledged that he’s had experiences where he’s struggled to promote a movie he didn’t feel strongly about. ‘I’ve had experiences before when people say, ‘Why should you see this movie?’ And in the back of your mind, you’re like, ‘You shouldn’t, because it’s shit,’ he confessed. This candid admission highlights the difficulties actors can face when promoting a film they’re not passionate about.

A Recent Victory Lap

Despite the challenges, Holland seems to be enjoying his current promotional tour for his two summer blockbusters, The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek epic, has already crossed the $300M global mark in its first week, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to premiere on July 31 in theaters. Holland expressed his pride in both films, stating, ‘It’s felt really like a bit of a victory lap to be honest. I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m super proud of both of the films.’

The Odyssey follows the incredible journey of Odysseus, played by Matt Damon, as he navigates the trials and mythical encounters he faces on his decade-long journey home after the Trojan War. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker, whose powers are undergoing a strange and dangerous evolution. The film takes place four years after the events of the previous Spider-Man movie, where Dr. Strange’s spell made the world forget Spider-Man’s existence.

With two successful films under his belt, Holland seems to be on a high note, enjoying the experience of promoting his work. His honesty about the challenges of promoting less-than-stellar films serves as a reminder that even the most talented actors can face difficulties in their careers.

Holland’s candid conversation with the Dish Podcast offers a glimpse into the life of a young actor navigating the highs and lows of the entertainment industry. His passion for his work and his willingness to be honest about the challenges he faces make him a compelling figure to watch in the world of Hollywood.
