David Rush, a Guinness World Record Holder, Takes on a New Challenge

However, he did not let this setback discourage him. Instead, he used it as an opportunity to learn and improve. He decided to spend some more time practicing and set his official attempt for Halloween 2025.

As the big day approached, Rush continued to practice and perfect his technique. He set up the cameras, dipped the wicks, lit them, mounted the unicycle, and immediately dropped every single torch on the concrete. He picked them up, dusted them off, hopped back in the saddle, and dropped them again. Failure in under three seconds. But he says all the time, ‘Failure does not define you, how you respond to it does.’

Rush’s perseverance paid off on his third attempt. He finally found his groove and managed 175 catches, more than quadrupling the previous record. The video from his attempt was reviewed by Guinness World Records, and he is now the official holder of the title.
