Breaking news in the world of cinema, as Deadline reveals that Emmy-winning actress Hannah Waddingham is set to star alongside the inimitable Jason Statham in David Leitch’s action-comedy ‘Jason Statham Stole My Bike’. This highly anticipated film has been in production since June, with filming taking place in the UK and Malta.

The news marks the first major casting announcement for the film, following the initial reports of the project in February. Waddingham and Leitch previously collaborated on the 2022 film ‘The Fall Guy’, and their reunion is sure to delight fans of the director’s work.

Statham, known for his high-octane performances in films like ‘The Transporter’ and ‘The Expendables’, reunites with Leitch after their successful collaboration on the 2019 film ‘Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw’. The film is set to be a big-budget production, with a number of action-packed set pieces and a tongue-in-cheek meta title that pokes fun at the very idea of a film featuring the actor playing a character called Jason Statham.

The screenplay for ‘Jason Statham Stole My Bike’ was written by Alison Flierl, based on a story by Flierl and Scott Chernoff. The film is being produced by Kelly McCormick and Leitch for 87North Productions, alongside Statham’s Punch Palace Productions, and John Friedberg’s Black Bear. Fifth Season and Tango are also on board as executive producers.

Hannah Waddingham, known for her critically acclaimed performance in Apple TV’s ‘Ted Lasso’, has earned a slew of awards and nominations for her work in the series, including an Emmy, an Actor Award, and two Critics’ Choice Awards. She has also been recognized for her work on stage, earning three Olivier nominations for her performances in London’s West End.

Waddingham’s latest project, Amazon Prime’s ‘Ride or Die’, has her starring alongside Octavia Spencer, and she is also an executive producer on the series. The actress is represented by CAA, Atlas Artists, and Jackoway Austen.

‘Jason Statham Stole My Bike’ is set to be released in North America on August 6, 2027, marking Black Bear’s latest collaboration with Statham. The film promises to be a wild and action-packed ride, with Waddingham and Statham at the helm.
