Spider-Man: Brand New Day Leaked Online Before Sony Could Take It Down
In a significant breach of security, a high-quality bootleg of the latest Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has been leaked online, reaching millions of users before Sony could take it down.
The leak occurred on X, a social media platform, where a user named Fredrick Bryan posted the movie, allowing users to view the film and share its biggest surprises with others.
According to reports, the post reached an astonishing 5.9 million X accounts, garnered over 143,000 likes, and was reshared more than 10,000 times before Sony could take action.
The leaked film has left many users stunned, with some expressing their disappointment on the platform. ‘DUDE NO I WAS WATCHING THIS SPIDERMAN BRAND NEW DAY MOVIE ON TWITTER AND IT SUDDENLY STOPPED PLAYING,’ one user lamented.
Others, however, seemed to have taken advantage of the situation, downloading the movie before it was removed. ‘Yo did anybody download that Spider-Man Brand New Day movie that just dropped? I forgot to download it before it got deleted,’ another user asked, accompanied by ‘loudly crying face’ emojis.
Notably, short segments revealing some of the film’s biggest reveals also started circulating on X. Although some of those posts remain online, a message saying ‘this media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner’ can now be found in the video’s place.
Some users still have posts available stating they saw at least the first chunk of the movie before it was removed, while others claim they were able to nearly finish it.
The leak has raised concerns about the security of online platforms and the measures taken to protect copyrighted content. Marvel Studios, the producers of the film, has yet to comment on the matter.
In a similar incident, a high-quality rip of Christopher Nolan’s new movie, The Odyssey, was posted on X last weekend, giving millions of users the opportunity to watch it or at least get a taste of what it’s like instead of going to the theaters to watch it.
Universal, the studio behind The Odyssey, has issued a statement addressing the unauthorized posting of the film. ‘We became aware of the unauthorized posting of the film and immediately initiated takedown protocols,’ Universal said. ‘We take copyright infringement seriously and will pursue all appropriate remedies to protect our content and intellectual property rights.’
As for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it has only just been released in theaters today, July 31, 2026. IGN gave Holland’s latest swing a 7/10 review, with the film bringing in an incredible $72 million in box office previews.
However, how exactly it will fare throughout its opening weekend remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Sony has already been doing its best to combat leaks related to its post-credits scene.
